The role
We are looking for a Senior Solutions Engineer who thrives at the intersection of engineering,
product, and customers.
In this role you will work directly with customers to design, implement, and scale solutions built
on the Hornet retrieval engine. You will help them deploy production-grade retrieval systems,
build agentic workflows, and integrate Hornet deeply into their infrastructure.
This role is hands-on engineering: writing code, building prototypes, debugging distributed systems, performance tuning, and shaping the product through experiences with real-world deployments.
You will be among the first engineers working directly with customers as they build agentic systems on top of Hornet. The role requires global travel to support customer deployments.
What you’ll do
● Work directly with customers to design and deploy production retrieval systems powered by Hornet.
● Build integrations, reference implementations, and prototypes that demonstrate best practices for using Hornet with AI agents.
● Debug and troubleshoot complex production deployments on Kubernetes
● Translate customer problems into product improvements and new platform capabilities.
● Build tooling and reusable components that accelerate onboarding and adoption.
● Collaborate closely with product and core engineering to shape the evolution of Hornet
● Help define how retrieval infrastructure should work in the emerging ecosystem of agentic systems.
What we’re looking for
● 5+ years of experience in solutions engineering, consulting, or similar roles.
● Strong programming ability (Python, TypeScript, Go, or similar).
● Experience building or operating distributed search systems, APIs, or infrastructure platforms.
● Excellent communication skills
● Strong experience with running applications on Kubernetes
● Experience working with LLM applications, retrieval systems, or agentic frameworks.
● Ability to quickly understand unfamiliar systems and debug complex technical issues.
● Comfortable with working directly with engineers at customer organizations.
● High ownership and the ability to drive projects from idea to production.
● AI-native: Experience using coding agents for rapid prototyping and system exploration.
